Walmart Foundation gives $1.5 million to kids' museum

BENTONVILLE — The Walmart Foundation has donated $1.5 million to a planned family museum to be built near Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

The donation will go to fund a traveling exhibit gallery at the Amazeum, a planned 44,500-square-foot museum in Bentonville.

Amazeum executive director Sam Dean says the donation will give the museum a boost to reaching its capital campaign goal of $28.5 million.

The Amazeum will include interactive exhibits like a Tinkering Studio, water area, climbable tree canopy and an exploratory wet lab.

The museum will be built on Northeast J Street near Crystal Bridges, which was created by Alice Walton.
