— A Springdale man was sentenced Tuesday to more than eight years in prison for federal firearms violations.

Noah Dilliplane, 26, was sentenced to 100 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Dilliplane also was ordered to serve two years of supervised release. U.S. District Judge Jimm Hendren presided over the sentencing in Fayetteville.

Dilliplane pleaded guilty in federal court in October to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

"Police officers and the community face serious risks of violence from felons in possession of firearms," according to U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge in a news release.

On June 11, Springdale police saw a person in a van driving recklessly. The officers followed the van into a parking lot where the driver, later identified as Dilliplane, jumped from the moving vehicle and fled.

After officers discontinued the foot chase, an employee at a business reported a man matching Dilliplane's description had emerged from an alley with a handgun. The officers eventually found and arrested Dilliplane. The testimony at sentencing established Dilliplane pointed the firearm at the employee.

Dilliplane was previously convicted in Benton County of felony possession of a controlled substance in 2011.
