• Chesley Osborn of Fayetteville has been named to the University of Iowa's Dean's List for the 2013 fall semester.

Undergraduate students who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on 12 semester hours or more are recognized by inclusion on the Dean's List for that semester.

• Charity Hall of Fayetteville recently graduated with a master's degree in business administration from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. A total of 157 students graduated at the fall commencement ceremonies held on Dec. 13.

• The Engineering and Technology Education program at Woodland Junior High School in Fayetteville has been named the Paxton-Patterson 2014 Program Excellence Award school. The school's technology education program was cited as being "truly exemplary among all of the other programs in your state at your school's level." The award will be presented at the ITEEA Conference in Orlando in March.

• Emily Ann Conklin of Bentonville was among 856 students from Miami University who received degrees during fall commencement exercises Dec. 13 in Millett Hall. Conklin received a bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude.

Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio offering 120 degree programs in humanities, science, engineering, business, education and fine arts.

• Ky-Hyeun Lee of Fayetteville has earned a bachelor of science in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Lee was among approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students who received degrees during Georgia Tech's 246th commencement exercises.

• Among the December 2013 graduating class at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock were Francesca Salcido of Springdale; Stephanie Freedle of Prairie Grove; Toronsa Simpson of Fayetteville, Aaron Schneider of Rogers, April Jackson of Bentonville, Mandi Green of Bella Vista and William Cathey of Bella Vista.

• Dylan Jones of Bentonville has been accepted to and has chosen to attend the University of Minnesota, Morris, one of the most respected public liberal arts colleges in the nation. Jones will attend Morris beginning in the fall of 2014.

• Oklahoma City University has awarded the following students merit scholarships based on grade point average and ACT/SAT test scores: Adrienne Pierce of Garfield, Brandon Elder of Rogers, Dustin Brach of Rogers, Esther Atkinson of Rogers, Makayla Osgood of Bentonville and Trenten Jarvis of Bella Vista.

Oklahoma City University is a coeducational, urban private university located in Oklahoma City.

• Twenty-two students from Ouachita Baptist University's band and choir programs participated last week in the annual Arkansas Intercollegiate Band and Choir at the Arkansas All-State Convention in Hot Springs. These students, nominated by their band or choir director to take part in the event, joined students from 12 other universities to prepare and present a full concert.

Band participants included Drew Ervin, a senior music and computer science major from Springdale on percussion; Chelsea Villanueva, a senior instrumental music education major from Rogers on clarinet; John Doss, a senior music major from Rogers; and Maria Falcon, a junior choral music education major from Bentonville.

• Approximately 4,620 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the fall 2013 semester. Among them were Mohammed Soliman of Fayetteville, the son of Ragini and Soliman Sharma; Carissa Smardo of Fayetteville, the daughter of Holly and Fred Smardo; Zachary Raphael of Rogers, the son of Raymond and Robyn Raphael; Madison Flint of Rogers, the daughter of Nicholas Flint; Nicole Schwarz of Rogers, the daughter of Karen and Michael Schwarz; Emily Farnan of Rogers, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Farnan; Russell Stricklen of Gravette, the son of Linda Lane and John Stricklen; Grant Bertram of Bentonville, the daughter of Jose Bertram Grant.
