Man Dies In Winter Wreck

A Springdale man died and two other people were transported to Mercy Hospital on Sunday afternoon after their vehicle slid on ice just south of the Bellview overpass, near mile marker 82, on Interstate 540.

Bruce Kanki, 35, of Springdale died at 2 p.m. Sunday after he was ejected from a 2004 Dodge Durango that was headed southbound when the vehicle struck a guardrail, then the retaining wall of a bridge and eventually landed upside-down next to a creek, according to an Arkansas State Police incident report released late Sunday.

Kanki, who was riding in the backseat, died at the scene. Driver Daniel Naisher, 24, and passenger Allee Naisher, 25, both of Springdale were transported to the hospital. The driver suffered no life-threatening injuries. Allee Naisher, the front passenger, was in serious condition Sunday afternoon.

The group had been traveling from Missouri to Springdale, according to the report.

The report shows Daniel Naisher lost control while trying to navigate a curve. He was cited for careless or prohibited driving and no insurance.
