Kingsdale Squares

Ladies Day Out

Ladies Day Out will meet at 9:45 a.m. March 18 across from Town Center in Bella Vista and go to the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Susan will speak on "Country Churches" with time to tour the museum also. Afterwards, participants will eat at Mary Maestri's in Springdale.

Lady Scotts

Lady Scotts 9 Hole Golf Group is recruiting new and previous members for the 2014 season. They play different courses every Wednesday, April through October.

Events will start with a welcoming breakfast at Papa Mike's at 9 a.m. March 26.

Nine-Hole Golf

It's time to sign up for the Bella Vista Nine-Hole Golf Club's season opening and welcoming brunch on March 24 at Riordan Hall. A $10 prepaid reservation is required by March 17. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with brunch at 9:30 a.m.

Nine-hole league play begins on April 7.

Nebraska Club

The Nebraska Club of Bella Vista is planning a St. Patrick's Day dinner on Saturday. The club will meet at Papa Mike's at 4 p.m. for a social hour. A corned beef and cabbage dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Runza dinners will also be available.

Reservations are due Monday and should be sent to K.B. and Sue Smith, treasurers, 9 Windsor Lane, Bella Vista. Corned beef dinners are $12 per person, and Runza dinners are $10.

The event is open to any Nebraskans in the area.

Homesteaders

The Homesteaders will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Concordia of Bella Vista. Pastor Jeff Reed of the Bella Vista Community Church will speak on "Stories of American Patriotism."

Lions Club

At 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Bella Vista Lions Club will meet for a dinner buffet meeting at Concordia Retirement Center's main building, 1 Concordia Drive. Speakers Linda and Lisa Hook of Gentry's Wild Wilderness Safari will discuss the drive-through zoo and its inhabitants.

The club meets the first and third Tuesday of the month. All guests are welcome. The optional dinner buffet is offered for $9.

Historical Society

Susan Young, outreach coordinator for the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale, will present the program "Make a Joyful Noise" at the Benton County Historical Society meeting at 2:30 p.m. March 9 at the 1866 School House in Bentonville. This program will provide an overview history of sacred harp gospel singing and will include historic recordings of shape-note singers from Appalachia, which had the same tradition.

AAUW

The American Association of University Women will meet March 11 at First United Presbyterian Church at 695 E. Calvin St. in Fayetteville. Networking and light refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program at 6 p.m.

The featured speaker is Lauren J. DeCarvalho, visiting assistant professor of communication at the University of Arkansas. DeCarvalho will be speaking about women in mainstream film production, specifically focusing on the systemic issues that continually keep more women from thriving and advancing in, or even entering, the industry. She will juxtapose this with a discussion of women who work in independent film production.

German Americans

The German American Club of Northwest Arkansas will meet at 2 p.m. March 9 at the Quarter Square shopping center at 1400 W. Walnut St. in Rogers.

Members are asked to bring cards or board games. A short German/English word game will also be played, and a prize will be awarded.

The group welcomes any visitor interested in German sociability and traditions.

The Scandinavian Club of Northwest Arkansas will meet at 1 p.m. March 14 in the Powell Annex of the Springdale Senior Center at Park and Grove streets in Springdale. Everyone is welcome.

The Northwest Arkansas Handweavers Guild will be meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, 214 S. Main St. in Springdale. The program will be presented by Cynthia Cox on "Warp Painting." Visitors are welcome.

Hill N Dale Hiking Club of Bella Vista will start the spring hiking season with a hike Thursday at Blowing Springs. Members will meet at the trailhead parking lot at 9:30 a.m. The club would like to extend an invitation to any nonmembers to join in.
