Authorities seize ill-treated animals

Jefferson County authorities said 183 animals — including 121 dogs — have been confiscated from what it called “deplorable living conditions.” The sheriff’s office said in a news release that officers serving a search warrant Thursday found the animals amid animal waste without enough food and water.
