Late effort lifts ’Cats over Bulldogs

GREENWOOD - Greenwood senior guard Evan Lensing kept his team in it on Senior Night, but the Conway Wampus Cats had too much after halftime to take a 64-49 victory over the Bulldogs at H.B. Stewart Bulldog Arena.

Lensing, who finished with a game high 21 points, scored 17 in the first half to help build a 31-19 lead at halftime.

Conway (15-9, 7-7 7A/6A-Central) took over from there. Jaylen Jones, who had a team-high 20 points, scored 13 points in the third quarter and A.J. Burton, who scored 18, had 13 in the second half to lead the way.

The Wampus Cats scored 11 consecutive points in the third quarter to take a 40-35 lead with a basket from Jones.

Ryan Padilla added 10 points for Greenwood (6-18, 2-12).
