Two men were arrested Sunday after deputies found a body buried in a shallow grave behind the house of one of the men in rural Crawford County, Sheriff Ron Brown said Monday.

Brown said investigators waited until Monday to excavate the five- to six-day-old grave. The body's gender and cause of death were unknown at noon Monday.

Jonathan Bridgewater, 27, and Nicholas Barrows, 19, are being held in the Crawford County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond each on first-degree murder charges.
