EOA Children's House, created in 1978, helps abused children heal through extended care and family support in a safe, homelike setting, according to its website, childrenshousenwa.org. It is a year-round therapeutic child development and crisis intervention center that serves children from 6 weeks through 5 years of age who have suffered physical, sexual and emotional abuse and life-threatening neglect, the website states. Cuddy said EOA Children's House serves 42 children each year. Services provided include occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, counseling, healthy meals, family engagement services and a preschool education, she said.

Kyle Kellams of KUAF was the master of ceremonies at the event.

The 10 salsas in the competition were from Abuelo's, On the Border, Ella's Restaurant, Early Bird Catering, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Jose's, Grumpy Ed's Salsa, Mojito's Mexican Grill, Hot Johnny's and Liquid Lava. Early Bird Catering won the competition, receiving a trophy and tickets to next year's Summer Salsa, Cuddy said.

There were 115 silent auction items, she said.

A Mexican-themed menu was provided by Catering Unlimited. A late night snack and dessert menu featured mini bacon sandwiches by Early Bird Catering and donuts by Olde Tyme Donuts.
