CareLink marks 35th year with luncheon, gift of car

The highlight of the 35th anniversary celebration for CareLink on June 12 at the Patrick Henry Hays Center in North Little Rock was when the keys to a new Chevrolet HHR compact wagon were handed to board chairman-elect Stacy Duckett. Presented by Sandy and Steve Landers, the vehicle will be used in the organization's Meals on Wheels Program.

Steve Landers thanked the volunteers who deliver the meals, saying, "You change a lot of people's lives."

During the luncheon, Billboard Top 40 hits from 1979, the year the agency was formed, played in the background. Afterward, staff member Felicia Barron wowed the crowd with a happy birthday rap she'd written for the occasion.

Originally called Central Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, the nonprofit was formed to provide resources for older people and their families, help the aged to live in their own homes as long as possible, and help active people age well by staying fit, healthy and involved in the community.
