Arkansans get works in Delta

Twenty Arkansas artists were accepted and are showing at the 56th annual Delta Exhibition, which opened Friday at the Arkansas Arts Center.

Arkansans whose work was accepted are Charles Steiner, Fort Smith; Jeff Sharp, Bryant; David Bailin, Darrell Berry, Taimur Amin Cleary, Angela Davis Johnson, Ted Grimmett, Stephen Murphree, Ian Park, Robert Reep, Katherine Rutter, Cathryn Slater, Katherine Strause, Robin Tucker and Hubert Weldon, all of Little Rock; Dennis McCann, Maumelle; Kandy Jones and Steven Rockwell, North Little Rock; Jerome Mazyck and Glenn Beasley, Sherwood.

Brian Rutenberg was juror for this year's exhibition. The South Carolina native is an artist living and working in New York.

The Delta Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture was founded in 1956 to feature contemporary work by artists from Arkansas and bordering states. Today, the exhibition includes works in all media and is a showcase for the dynamic vision of the artists of the Mississippi Delta region.

The exhibition is sponsored by Warren and Harriet Stephens; Stephens Inc.; Noble Strategies; Fleming Electric; and The Bailey Foundation. It also is supported by the Andre Simon Memorial Trust in memory of everyone who has died of AIDS.
