Walmart NW Arkansas Championship

First round update

— Canada's Alena Sharp, who is No. 234 in the Rolex Rankings, shot a 6-under 65 first round and leads the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in Rogers by one stroke.

She made seven birdies and only one bogey en route to her first round score of 65.

Coming off of her first major victory at the U.S. Women's Open, Michelle Wie made a birdie on the 18th hole to move into a tie for second. Wie and Alejandra Llaneza, the No. 273 player in the world, each shot bogey-free 5-under 66s.

Current Arkansas golfer Gaby Lopez shot a 1-under 70. Former Razorback and current world No. 1 Stacy Lewis also shot a 1-under, despite struggling with two bogeys in her first four holes.

Making her professional debut, former Arkansas golfer Emily Tubert fired a 3-over 74, making a pair of birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on the 16th hole.

Lopez and Lewis are tied for 43rd, while Tubert finished tied for 108th.
