U.S. loses to Germany, moves to next stage

American goalkeeper Tim Howard can’t stop a rebound shot by Germany’s Thomas Mueller in the second half of Germany’s 1-0 victory Thursday in Recife, Brazil. Despite the loss, the United States advanced to the round of 16.

RECIFE, Brazil -- Germany's Thomas Mueller stayed on track to retain his Golden Boot title at the World Cup by scoring his fourth goal of the tournament in a 1-0 victory over the United States.
