Rogers Police To Start Outreach Ride-Along Program July 6

ROGERS -- Residents will have the chance to bicycle with police officers this summer as part of the "Pedal with the Police" outreach program.

The department's bike patrol will host the community bike-along each weekend along different sections of the new Northwest Arkansas Razorback Regional Greenway and other bike trails, according to a Police Department news release. This is the first year for the program, said Keith Foster, department spokesman.

The first ride starts at 8 a.m. on July 6.

The bike-along offers residents an opportunity to speak with police about community issues. The program is meant to encourage community involvement with law enforcement.

The bike patrol will host two rides each weekend. A ride of about 12 miles on Saturdays will begin at the Rogers High School trail head. A Sunday ride of about seven miles will begin at Cambridge Park trail head. Both rides begin at 8 a.m.

All participants are encouraged to wear helmets. Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
