Arenas roughed up again in 2nd inning

A rocky second inning from starter Orangel Arenas kept the Arkansas Travelers from winning the opener of a six-game road trip Wednesday night in Frisco, Texas.

Arenas gave up three singles and a double in the Frisco RoughRiders' five-run second inning as the Travs lost 6-1 at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Arenas (5-4) entered with a 2.84 ERA but has given up four earned runs in three of his past four starts, although Wednesday's decisive inning included breakdowns by players other than Areans.

Frisco's big inning started with Odubel Herrera's leadoff single, then Teodoro Martinez reached on a throwing error by Eric Stamets that sent Herrera on third base.

Arenas walked Edwin Garcia, and a passed ball by catcher Jett Bandy allowed Herrera to score and make it 1-0. Ryan Strausborger hit followed with a two-run double, Pat Cantwell hit an RBI single and Tomas Telis hit a sacrifice fly.

The Travs' only run came in the fourth when Mike Bianucci, who hit 30 home runs while playing for Frisco in 2011, doubled and scored on a wild pitch.

Frisco added its final run in the seventh when Catwell singled, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on Joey Gallo's single.

Jerad Eickhoff (5-5) held Arkansas to 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 6 over 7 innings to earn the victory.
