West Fork Water Quality Subject Of Five Public Meetings

Washington County residents are invited to five public meetings the next two weeks to review findings of the Beaver Watershed Alliance's West Fork of the White River Opportunity Assessment.

The assessment identifies sections of the river that would benefit most from voluntary best management practices meant to reduce pollution in the river.

The 27-mile West Fork of the White River is listed on the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality's Impaired Water Bodies list. It flows into Beaver Lake, the drinking water source for most Northwest Arkansas residents.

Residents will have an opportunity at the meetings to review assessment results, discuss areas of the river which need improvement and seek help with their own properties.

A barbecue meal will be provided.

To RSVP, contact Courtney Thomas, outreach coordinator for the Beaver Watershed Alliance, at 479-750-8007 or [email protected].

Meeting dates are:

• Thursday: 6 p.m., West Fork Community Center, 222 Webber St.

• Saturday: 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Brentwood Community Center, 16945 S. U.S. 71
