BENTONVILLE -- A Siloam Springs man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he admitted sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Alan Bell, 55, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of sexual assault in the first degree. The plea came under an agreement Scott McElveen, Bell's attorney, reached with Carly Marshall, deputy prosecutor.

Bell was arrested May 10, 2013.

Marshall told the court between November 2012, and April 2013 Bell had sexual contact with the girl. Marshall said Bell had a position of trust and authority over the girl.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Bell's guilty pleas.

Bell was sentenced to 30 years in prison on one count of sexual assault and 10 years on the other count. The sentences will be served consecutively. That means Bell must serve 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

He must abide by a suspended sentence agreement for 10 years after his release from prison. Bell will be required to register as a sex offender.

Bell must pay $2,120 in court costs. He received 410 days of jail credit for the time he spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial.
