Brandie Marie Lindemann, 28, and Jordan Kenneth Whitney, 31, were arrested last week in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Crawford County Circuit Court warrants that were issued last month.

Van Buren police spokesman Detective Jonathan Wear said Tuesday that he could not say what prompted Alabama authorities to come in contact with Whitney and Lindemann and discover the warrants against them.

Whitney is charged with second-degree domestic battery, aggravated assault on a family or household member and endangering the welfare of a minor. Lindemann is charged with permitting abuse of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Whitney and Lindemann waived extradition and are being transported back to Arkansas by a prisoner transport company, Wear said.

The police department began investigating the allegations against Whitney and Lindemann on May 5. At that time, Wear said, Lindemann's two children, ages 6 and 10, were removed from the home and placed in the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Shortly after the investigation began, he said, investigators lost contact with the couple and believed they fled from the area to avoid authorities.
