A man and woman from Illinois were killed Monday when the motorcycle they were riding ran off a Carroll County road and hit a tree, authorities said.

It happened about 9 a.m. as Steven E. Harvey, 58, and Linda M. Harvey, 56, both of Waukegan, Ill., were riding a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Arkansas 23 north of Holiday Island.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, Steven E. Harvey was operating the motorcycle when it ran off the side of the road in a curve and hit a tree.

Both riders were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, authorities said.

The deaths raised to 195 the number of fatal vehicle crashes in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
