Gun Drawn In Roadrage; Woman Arrested

A woman was arrested Sunday after being accused of pointing a loaded gun at another driver during a fit of road rage.

Jennifer Blumthal, 42, of 1420 Sumner Ave. in Nashville, Tenn., was arrested in connection with two counts of aggravated assault, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:25 p.m., a man called 911 and said he was driving in Madison County and was being chased, according to an arrest report. Dispatchers told him the closest help was in Washington County. Deputies stopped Blumthal in Covington Park subdivision in Fayetteville, and she was wearing a pistol in a holster when she got out of her car, Sgt. Richard Green said.

Blumthal told deputies it was a cellphone, not a gun, she held out the window and she was trying to take a video of the man's reckless driving, according to the report.

Deputies found another pistol behind the passenger seat in Blumthal's car. They also found 35 rounds of ammunition and a tactical vest, commonly worn by soldiers and police. Blumthal told deputies she was in the military and on her way to Fort Smith.

Green said the incident began when Blumthal flipped off the man, and he returned the gesture.

Blumthal was being held Monday in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $7,500 bond. She is to appear in court July 25.
