Who Is Responding To Emergencies?

Monday, June 23, 2014

TAFD, TAVFD, TFD, TTFD, Public Safety -- no wonder we are confused in Tontitown. No one knows who is responding to 911 calls. The lack of comprehensive fire and emergency coverage affects us all, whether we vote or not, and whether we live in Tontitown or not.

Is it safe? That is the question and it affects everyone.

I've lived in Tontitown 40 years, and like a lot of folks, try to stay out of the politics. Not now.

If your neighbor or family member is a fireman in a neighboring city, is it safe for them to respond in Tontitown?

If you live in Tontitown and call 911, who will show up? A fire doubles in size every 60 seconds. Who is getting dispatched? Is it safe?

What to do? Call your mayor in Springdale, Fayetteville, Johnson, etc. and ask, "what will happen?"

Call Tontitown Mayor Jack Bedford at 361-2700. Or call your City Council representative.

Call the county judge and ask questions.

Call John Luther or Rick Johnson in Washington County Emergency Management at 444-1722.

Call your local dispatcher and ask what will happen.

Call your insurance agent. Your rates are going to skyrocket.

This isn't safe.
