Springdale Sees Tax Revenue Jump

Monday, June 23, 2014

— Northwest Arkansas cities reported a mixed picture in sales tax revenue this month following the rebound from the harsh winter.

Revenue was up for most of the larger cities, particularly in Springdale, where revenue jumped 12 percent from June last year. Bentonville and Lowell reported sharp decreases.

The numbers give a delayed picture of the area’s economic activity, reflecting revenue collected in May from sales in April. Fayetteville regularly leads the area with between $1.3 million and $1.7 million in monthly sales tax revenue.
