Bicycle ride ends with drug charge

A man riding a bicycle in North Little Rock on Friday was stopped and arrested on suspicion of possessing meth with purpose to deliver, according to police.

Police saw Jerry York, 28, of Sherwood riding a bicycle in the middle of Avondale Road about 2:45 a.m. Friday, reports state. An officer attempted to stop York because he had no reflective equipment on his bicycle. Police said that when the officer approached him, York fled.

The officer apprehended York after a short foot chase. Police then discovered that York had two outstanding warrants for fleeing, according to police reports.

During a search, the officer found 4.5 grams of meth inside a black bag in York's front pants pocket and approximately 40 plastic baggies and more than $1,700 cash in York's pockets, police said.

York was booked into Pulaski County jail and released on $28,500 bond.

Minor reportedlyleft without power

A Little Rock woman arrested Saturday is accused of leaving a minor at home alone for two days without electricity, according to police.

Police said the woman left her child, 17, in the home for 48 hours with only a small box fan that ran using a small gas generator. According to reports, she told police that she left to teach the child a lesson.

Wendy Borrus, 38, was arrested Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Woodyard Road on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a minor. She was booked into Pulaski County jail and released on $1,000 bond.

Prescription leadsto burglary arrest

A man was arrested in North Little Rock on Friday on suspicion of breaking into a house and stealing pills, police said.

Police responded to 2118 W. 18th St. at about 3:30 p.m. Friday after someone reported that several men were breaking into a neighboring house. When police arrived, they saw a group of men walking south on nearby Phyllis Street. One of the men saw the police officers, and then turned and walked in the other direction, according to police reports.

As an officer exited his car, the man tossed two pill bottles into the grass, police said. After arresting the man, officers went to the home where the theft occurred and saw that a door had been kicked in. The name of the resident matched the name on the pill bottles, police said. The resident told police that the pills had been stored in the back bedroom of her house.

Juwan Deaunta Jordan, 18, was arrested and accused of burglary, theft of property and loitering. He is currently being held in Pulaski County jail.
