Benton County

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County, 501 S. 40th St., Rogers, holds a social Sunday this weekend. Bring a dish if you want to share.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., sponsors the Shepherd's Food pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday. The "Each One -- Bring One" campaign requests donations of jelly, peanut butter, cereal, and sugar-free and gluten-free items.

The Cooper Elementary School Backpackers assisted 60 children each week, with 10 or 11 school items to help those in need of support. A total of 20,790 items were sent out and put in bags for those children. The church will continue this again next school year.

The quilters donated 177 large quilts and 115 baby quilts last year. These items were donated to Lutheran World Relief, Red Cross, Siloam Springs Regional Hospital and the Shepherd's Food Pantry. They meet again at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The church will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on July 29 with one service beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a groundbreaking for the new addition and dinner.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Dr., presents its United Methodist Women leading the 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services Sunday. Sandra Wacaster, chief executive officer of Camp Aldersgate, will be the guest speaker. The Women will hold their quarterly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a style show by Helping Hands. Tickets are $7, and must be purchased by Sunday. Childcare is provided by reservations.

The church sponsors a Helping Hands workday June 28. Volunteers work in two shifts, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m. Men are needed both shifts, and women are needed for the second shift.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Fayetteville, 901 W. Cleveland St., presents Kate Siegenthaler, a filmmaker, sharing scenes and experiences from he documentary film, "No Trespassing," during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. The film follows a social worker in the backwoods of the Ozark Mountains, who deals with the cycle of poverty, abuse, neglect and addiction.

Lisa Corrigan, director of the general studies program and an assisstant professor of African-American studies at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, speaks during the 11 a.m. worship service June 29. She speaks about poverty and incarceration in the South.
