ROGERS -- A man was arrested Monday in connection with the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.

David Kegger Perez Jr., 49, of 704 W. Oak St. in Rogers was arrested in connection with second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony.

Police were notified by the state Child Abuse Hotline the girl was touched by her mother's boyfriend, according to a probable cause affidavit provided Wednesday by Rogers Police.

The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center in Little Flock and said she fell asleep in the same bed as Perez and her mother. After her mother left for work, the girl said Perez touched her inappropriately.

Perez denied the incident when interviewed by detectives. He was at the Benton County Jail on Wednesday with no bond. A court date is set for July 28, according to the jail website.

Perez has had previous brushes with police, according to the news release. He isn't listed as a sexual offender by the Arkansas Crime Information Center.

A person commits second-degree sexual assault under Arkansas law if he is 18 or older and engages in sexual contact with a person younger than 14, according to the news release.
