Governor honors graduating seniors

In recognition of outstanding academic achievement, Gov. Mike Beebe and his wife, Ginger, invited students from around Arkansas to participate in Scholastic Honors Day earlier this spring at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion in Little Rock.

The high school seniors were honored as the "best and brightest" students in Arkansas, according to program coordinator Lauren Clark. Two students were chosen from each school to participate. The scholars were invited to tour the mansion and landscaped gardens and were met by Student Ambassadors from colleges and universities across Arkansas.

Honorees took their photos with the governor and first lady and were presented with certificates of recognition.

Seventeen students from Benton and Washington Counties were honored.
