Gravette man arrested in connection with child porn

A Gravette man was arrested Friday in connection with possessing child pornography.

James William Case, 43, was being held Tuesday in the Benton County Jail with a $50,000 bond set. He is in custody after his arrest in connection with distributing possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually conduct involving a child, a Class C felony, which is punishable with a prison sentence ranging from 3 to 10 years.

According to the affidavit, detectives served a search warrant on the residence Friday and Case was one of the individuals at the home.

Greg Stevenson, a cyber crime detective, questioned Case and asked Case if he had ever downloaded child pornography over the Internet, according to court documents. Case said he had heard about child pornography and was curious about it, the affidavit states.

Detectives suspected Case of downloading more that 1800 images and Stevenson asked why would it take so many images for him to see what child pornography was all about, the affidavit states. Case said he got more curious and wanted to see what it would lead to, according to court documents.

Detectives also found an image of a 4-to-8-year-old girl performing a sex act on Case's cell phone, the affidavit states. Case said the image was taken from his computer using the camera on his phone, according to court documents.

Case is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment at 8 a.m. July 21 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
