Awards, Promotions Announced At Springdale Police Ceremony

SPRINGDALE -- The Police Department promoted three officers and announced winners at its 2014 Awards Ceremony on Monday.

Shane Pegran was promoted to lieutenant, and Jonathan Knight and Jared Pena were promoted to sergeant.

Officer of the year was Overton Hesler. Supervisor of the year was Lt. Derek Hudson. The Washington County Prosecutor's Award went to Luis Manjarrez and the City Prosecutor's Award to John Mackey.

Dispatcher of the year was Lacy Sprinkles. Civilian employee of the year was Ron Findley, jailer. The field training officer of the year went to Bobby Hammontree.

Other awards went to:

• Medal of Valor -- Jake Whorton.

• Meritorious Service -- Fredy Villeda, Walter Mercato.

• Distinguished Service -- Ross Patton, Morris Irwin, Rick Frisby, Ed Motsinger.
