Rogers Officials Remove Persimmon Street Stop Signs

ROGERS --Long-time residents driving on Persimmon Street may notice some stop signs have been removed.

A resident in the area requested the city remove the stop signs at Second, Third and Fourth streets to provide better traffic flow, said Lance Jobe, city engineer.

"We took a look at the situation, and talked to mayor about removing the stop signs. The mayor agreed, so we had the signs removed," Jobe said. The signs were taken down this week.

"We kept the stop sign at Fifth Street to keep cars from speeding on Persimmon. It will create another east-west corridor and ease traffic on Walnut and Olive streets. We don't have a lot of stop signs on Persimmon from Eighth Street to Dixieland Road, and that hasn't become a race track, nor have we received any complaints," Jobe said.
