FAYETTEVILLE -- Residents are invited to tour of the trails at Mount Sequoyah Woods on Saturday.

The tour, led by Jeremy Pate, Fayetteville Development Services director, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mount Sequoyah Woods pavilion, according to a news release.

Limited parking is available on Paddock Road. Head north about a half-mile from the Happy Hollow Road and Huntsville Road/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersection. Paddock Road will be on your left. Follow the trail into the woods to find the pavilion.

Saturday's event is the second of four monthly trail tours to be led by city administrators and department heads. The tours provide an opportunity for residents to be active and learn about different segments of the trails system.

The Fayetteville Natural Heritage Foundation raised about $300,000 between 2003 and 2008 in an effort to preserve the 67-acre Mount Sequoyah Woods. The group's donation prompted city officials, under former Mayor Dan Coody's administration, to purchase the land.

Participants in Saturday's hike are advised to take precautions to prevent tick and insect bites.
