Bridge lights now available to be rented

The lighting on three bridges between Little Rock and North Little Rock can now be rented by anyone wishing to have the colors coordinate with a special event.

Applications will soon be uploaded to the River Lights in the Rock website, arkansasriverlights.com, according to Gretchen Hall, president and chief executive officer of the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau. The bureau oversees the bridge lights.

Lighting requests can be made for the Main Street, Junction and Clinton bridges.

Rates for individuals and for-profit groups are $200 for one bridge and $500 for all three bridges. Nonprofits are offered reduced rates of $150 for one bridge and $350 for all three.

Rentals include special color requests lasting for an entire evening. Rates for multiple days will be negotiated and will depend on availability, the application states.

Rental requests that are in conflict with planned lighting displays to honor various federal and state holidays will be denied. A schedule of planned shows is available on the River Lights in the Rock website. Lighting requests for religious figures, political events and political campaigns will also be denied.

Lighting options include a static single color, static multiple colors or slow movement from one color to the next. Constant dancing colors and rapid movement requests are not allowed. A special light show up to 10 minutes long with fast movement and multiple color changes is available for an additional $100 fee.

Money generated from lighting requests will be placed in an account to be used for the maintenance of the bridge lights.
