ROGERS -- A chicken barbecue Saturday will benefit the Whitey Smith Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship was established by the now-defunct Rogers Quarterback Club and renamed this year in honor of Smith, the club founder. The scholarship is awarded to students at Rogers High School and Heritage High School who are active in extracurricular activities.
Whitey's Chicken Cookin' Crew -- also founded by Smith -- will barbecue the chicken which will then be sold near the pit at Second and Locust streets. Sales should started about 9:30 a.m.
