Fort Smith man sentenced for transporting child porn

A Fort Smith was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for transporting images of child pornography, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge.

Jimmy Kinsey, 62, will also have to serve 15 years of supervised probation following his release.

The investigation into Kinsey began with a call from a family member about questionable images of children, according to the news release. A search revealed several explicit images of an approximately 7-year-old girl. Kinsey told investigators he tok the photos of the girl in Georgia while she slept, and brought the pictures with him when he moved to Arkansas in 2007, according to the news release.

“Crimes against children are among the most despicable crimes that our office deals with, as they affect the most vulnerable members of our community," Eldridge said in the news release. "These children are re-victimized every time these images are downloaded or viewed. Our office will continue to hold the perpetrators of these crimes responsible and bring them to justice to the fullest extent of the law.”
