Angelina Jolie and British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Tuesday opened a high-profile gathering in London intended to combat the increasing prevalence of sexual violence in war zones, with Jolie calling for an end to a "culture of impunity" among perpetrators. "We must send a message around the world that there is no disgrace in being a survivor of sexual violence, that the shame is on the aggressor," she said in a speech at the start of the four-day event. "We need to shatter that culture of impunity and make justice the norm, not the exception, for these crimes," Jolie said. "We need political will, replicated across the world, and we need to treat this subject as a priority. We need to see real commitment and go after the worst perpetrators, to fund proper protection for vulnerable people and to step in to help the worst-affected countries. We need all armies, peacekeeping troops and police forces to have prevention of sexual violence in conflict as part of their training." The conference will culminate in formal sessions Thursday and Friday with 100 international delegates, including U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and, by video link, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

• The New Jersey State Police on Tuesday released audio recordings from three 911 calls made after the weekend accident that injured Tracy Morgan and killed another comedian. "It's a terrible accident," a woman tells the dispatcher in one of the calls. "The car flipped. It's on its side. It's two vehicles and a Wal-Mart truck." The crash early Saturday killed 62-year-old James "Jimmy Mack" McNair and injured Morgan and three others. The driver of Morgan's limousine and another passenger were unhurt. Wal-Mart trucker Kevin Roper was expected to appear in state court today on charges of death by auto and assault by auto. It was unclear whether Roper of Jonesboro, Ga., had retained an attorney. He remained free after posting $50,000 bond. Authorities said Roper hadn't slept in more than 24 hours when he smashed into the back of Morgan's chauffeured limousine bus. Morgan suffered a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He and two of the injured passengers were in critical but stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. FX Networks issued a statement Tuesday saying Morgan's new series, which was scheduled to start filming in August, is waiting for him once he's well but that his recovery is all that matters now.
