Man pleads not guilty in Washington County killing

A man who was arrested in Texas in connection with the stabbing death of a woman near Tontitown pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of being an accomplice to capital murder.

Lewis Anthony Hedges Jr., 34, of Springdale, was given an initial August 14 trial date. He is being held in the Washington County Jail with no bond set.

Investigators suspect Hedges of being an accomplice to capital murder in the death of Leann Frazier early May 21. They said Hedges suspected Frazier of being a “snitch” to the police and encouraged another man, Brock Atkins, to stab her to death. Atkins was arrested not long after Frazier's death and is charged with capital murder.
