Deputies ID body pulled from river

CALICO ROCK -- Izard County authorities identified the body of a man found in the White River and suspect the victim was camping along the river before he died, Sheriff Tate Lawrence said in a news release.

Deputies found the body of Donnie Ray Woodcock, 33, floating in the White River on Friday near a boat dock at Jenkins Fishing Service.

Izard County deputies Sgt. Gabe Sanders and Lt. Charles Melton recovered Woodcock's body about a mile downstream on the White River from Calico Rock, and Izard County Coroner Eddie Howard pronounced him dead.

Lawrence said officials sent Woodcock's body to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy.

Deputies reported finding evidence that Woodcock was camping near where his body was located. They discovered trash, beer cans and a partially burned fire on a large rock that's out in the river, Lawrence said in the release.
