SPRINGDALE -- Police are seeking a man who claims to be a door-to-door salesman, but officers say he scams those who pay him.

Victims told police a man named Omar claimed he worked for Royal Prestige, according to a police news release. Royal Prestige is a company that sells pots, pans and other culinary items door to door, according to the company website.

Omar gained entrance to homes by promising a free gift for listening to him, according to the release.

After the demonstration, Omar offered large discounts on products, according to the release. After taking money or jewelry for payment, he said he was going to get the merchandise but never returned.

People at the Royal Prestige office in Springdale told police they did not have an Omar working for them, and people had been scammed in Northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith with this method, according to the release.

Police have a photo of the suspect and of the vehicle he was driving, a blue Ford Expedition with the Texas license plate 28PPV5, according to the report. Anyone with information can call the Police Department at 479-751-4542 or the anonymous tip line at 479-750-4484 about case No. 14-3097.
