• Arkansas Tech University has announced its Dean's List for undergraduate students on the main campus in Russellville for the spring 2014 semester.

A student must achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher and complete at least 12 semester hours to be named to the Dean's List. A total of 1,555 Arkansas Tech students achieved that distinction during spring 2014. Included in the spring 2014 Dean's List are 591 students that achieved a 4.0 grade point average.

The members of the spring 2014 Arkansas Tech University Dean's List included:

• Baylor University in Waco, Texas, conferred degrees on more than 2,300 graduates during spring commencement exercises May 16-17 in the Ferrell Center. Baylor University is a private Christian university and a nationally ranked liberal arts institution, classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a research university with "high research activity."

Chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas through the efforts of Baptist pioneers, Baylor offers 144 undergraduate, 77 master, 32 doctoral degree programs, and two education specialist programs plus the juris doctor degree, through its 11 academic units. Baylor's 735-acre campus in Waco is home to more than 15,000 students fro m all 50 states and 80 countries.

Among local graduates were: Alexander Lawrence Asbill, Bentonville, bachlor of business administration, finance marketing, cum laude; Ankur Mahesh Pradhan, Bentonville, bachelor of arts in medical humanities, magna cum laude;

Morgan Taylor Ryan, Bentonville, bachelor of arts in speech communication.

• Holyn Marshall of Bentonville achieved a place on the University of Evansville Dean's List for academic achievements during the spring semester 2014. Marshall is majoring in business.

To make the Dean's List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

• The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named Kevin Gorman of Rogers to the Dean's List.

Gorman, whose major is music performance, was among 355 students who were honored for academic excellence in the spring 2014 semester.

To achieve the honor of being on the Dean's List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours, with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49 in the given semester.

• Yalile Johnson of Bentonville earned a spot on the spring 2014 President's List at Southern Arkansas University.

Johnson, a senior behavorial and social science major, was one of 253 students named to the spring President's List. To qualify, a student must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester.

• Amanda Renee Bacon of Siloam Springs has been named to the spring 2014 Dean's Honor Roll at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

Full-time undergraduate students who completed 12 or more hours with a grade point average of 4.00 were placed on the President's Honor Roll, and students with a grade point average of 3.50 or higher with no grade below a "C" were placed on the Dean's Honor Roll.

• The Rogers High School DECA Club recently received two of the highest national DECA achievement awards at the State DECA Leadership and Competitive Events Conference in Springdale. Chapter awards received were the Promotional Campaign and Community Service awards. In addition, RHS DECA received recognition for having led all state DECA chapters in money raised for charities. Many RHS DECA students were also winners in various competitive events:

First place: Kassandra Salazar/Gabby Molina (Buying and Merchandising); Chandler Kern/Bobby Louree (Marketing Communications); Taylor Atwell (Apparel and Accessories Marketing); Carter Forbis (Automotive Services Marketing); Alisha Sahu (Business Finance); Riley McGill (Business Services Marketing); Xavier Ryan (Human Resources Management); Addie Barczewski (Marketing Management); Garrett Kelly (Retail Merchandising).

Second place: Erick Aguilar (Restaurant & Food Service Management); Alex McClung (Retail Merchandising); Harrison Heffley/Michael Krupka (Hospitality Services); Bryce Bray/Jacob Bray (Sports & Entertainment Team Event); Max Harrell (Business Finance); Adam Breach (Food Marketing); Daniel Kinzer (Sports & Entertainment Individual Series).

Third place: Juliana Martins (Hotel and Lodging Management).

Finalists: Molly Strickland/Carolina French (Travel & Tourism); Nolan Farnan (Hotel and Lodging Management); Billy Treacy (Quick Serve Restaurant Management); Chandler Little/AnneDee Rylee (Sports & Entertainment Team Event).

• The Dean's List has been released for the spring 2014 semester at Missouri Southern State University.

The list recognizes full-time students from Missouri Southern who earned a grade point average of 3.75 or above on a 4.0 scale. The students qualified for the honor by earning the required GPA while being enrolled in 12 or more hours of credit courses.

Among those included were:

Bella Vista: Gregory L. Fowler, Tiffany L. Shanahan, Monica R. White.

Bentonville: Celeste G. Serrano, Chelsea N. Tucker.

Centerton: Joshua T. Thompson.

Gravette: Leah R. Houtchens, McKayley B. Tanner.

• Southern Arkansas University recently announced the names of 365 students who qualified for the Dean's List following the spring 2014 semester. Included were:

Hailey McNee of Bentonville, who is a sophomore athletic training major.

Collin Roberts of Rogers, who is a senior biological science major.

A total of 365 students earned a spot on this fall's Dean's List. To qualify, a student must complete 12 or more semester hours and attain a grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

• The University of Arkansas at Monticello named 112 students to the Chancellor's List for the spring semester and another 287 students to the Dean's List.

Selection to the Chancellor's List requires a grade point average of 4.0 on at least 12 semester hours of course credit at the 1000-4000 level. The Dean's List requires a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, also on at least 12 semester hours of course credit at the 1000-4000 level.

Among those included was Kelly K. Reed of Bella Vista.

• The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith has released the Dean's List for the spring 2014 semester.

Students with a 4.0 (straight-A) grade point average are marked with an asterisk.

• The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts celebrated two milestones during commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2014 on May 24 -- the 20th graduating class and the 2,000th graduate since the school opened in 1993.

Graduates from Benton County were Baleigh Almond of Pea Ridge, the daughter of Shelly Montez Kellengberger of Rogers and Joseph and Penny Almond of Hot Springs, Pea Ridge High School; Seth Gilchrist of Springdale, son of Susan Fox, Springdale High School; Kyle Hooks of Bentonville, son of Violet and Brian Hooks, Bentonville High School; Jacob Lawler of Bella Vista, son of Donnell Lawler, Bentonville High School; and Alexandra Martinez of Bentonville, daughter of Ellen and Gerald Martinez, Bentonville High School.
