Fayetteville Advertising And Promotion Commission Selects Legal Counsel

FAYETTEVILLE -- The Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission agreed Monday to hire the Bassett Law Firm as the commission's next legal counsel.

The decision comes after the March 10 death of John Logan Burrow, who had served as the commission's attorney since May 2013.

According to Marilyn Heifner, commission executive director, Vince Chadick, a partner at the Bassett Law Firm, will be the firm's primary contact. Chadick will be responsible for advising the commission on its decisions, particularly with regard to spending hotel, motel and restaurant tax money.

Heifner said Chadick proposed a $112 per hour fee, not to exceed $500 per month, for one year.

Chadick also serves as legal counsel for the Fayetteville Public Library Board of Trustees. Bassett Law Firm has been based in Fayetteville for more than 30 years.

Wright, Lindsey & Jennings of Rogers and the Davis Law Firm of Fayetteville also submitted statements of qualifications for the position.
