• Tracy Morgan, the comedian who was injured in a deadly crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, remains in critical condition but was "more responsive" after having surgery for a broken leg, said spokesman Lewis Kay, adding that Morgan broke his femur, nose and several ribs and is expected to remain hospitalized for "several weeks."

• King Juan Carlos of Spain presided over his country's Armed Forces Day ceremony, his last military parade before he abdicates the throne and his son, Prince Felipe, takes over.

• Victor Darnell Williams, 33, of Gulfport, Miss., who pleaded guilty to a drug-distribution charge for agreeing to swap his ownership of a bar for more than 26 pounds of cocaine, was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison.

• Jon Huntsman Sr., a Utah businessman and philanthropist, said he's interested in buying The Salt Lake Tribune newspaper but that the Justice Department has halted negotiations while federal lawyers examine changes to a joint operating agreement between Tribune owners and the rival Deseret News.

• Mohanned Halaweh, 19, of Sonoma County, Calif., was charged with credit card fraud, receiving stolen property, identity theft and vehicle theft, accused of using stolen credit cards to rent a $240,000 sports car and a $12 million vacation home.

• Hunter Gandee, 14, of Michigan finished a 40-mile walk from the Ohio border to Ann Arbor, Mich., with his 7-year-old brother, Braden, strapped to his back to raise awareness about cerebral palsy, a muscular condition that prevents Braden from being able to walk without help.

• Delos "Toby" Cosgrove, the CEO of the Cleveland Clinic and a candidate to lead the Veteran Affairs Department after the resignation of Eric Shinseki, said in a statement that he is withdrawing from consideration, citing his commitment to the hospital and its patients.

• Buddy Cianci, whose two stints as mayor of Providence, R.I., ended in felony convictions, said he's considering running again 12 years after serving prison time for overseeing widespread corruption, calling his most recent prison term a "bump in the road."

• Sandra and Salvador Diaz of El Paso, Texas, completed their adoption of Dino, a bomb-sniffing dog that was with their son Staff Sgt. Christopher Diaz when he was killed in September 2011 while rushing to help a wounded Marine.
