Muck new man in prep football

Jeremy Muck has been promoted to high school football coordinator of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Muck, 32, will be responsible for leading the Democrat-Gazette's statewide coverage of high school football. He also will assist with high school basketball coverage and other high school sports coverage.

"We were very fortunate to have Jeremy Muck ready to take on the challenge of leading our coverage of high school football,"Sports Editor Wally Hall said. "Jeremy is knowledgeable, hard-working and dependable."

Muck, a graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and a native of Bremerton, Wash., has been a member of the Democrat-Gazette's sports department since 2010 as a reporter and a page designer. He has spent seven years in the newspaper business.

Muck has covered University of Central Arkansas athletics since 2010 and University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff athletics since 2013. He also has covered the Arkansas Travelers baseball team, high school football and basketball, and numerous other sports as a general assignment reporter.

Before coming to the Democrat-Gazette, Muck covered high school sports for the Pine Bluff Commercial and The Sentinel-Record in Hot Springs. He was responsible for covering sports in the southeast Arkansas area while at the Commercial, and covered sports in Garland and Hot Spring counties for The Sentinel-Record.
