Rogers Planning Commissioner To Consider Laundromat Request

ROGERS -- The laundromat at 1240 W. Olive St. has been a fixture at that location for more than 30 years, but there is doubt whether the business ever had a conditional use permit, planning officials said.

The new owner of the laundromat, Benjamin Snodgrass, a Bentonville firefighter, is scheduled Tuesday to request a conditional use permit at the Rogers Planning Commission meeting.

The laundromat is located in a neighborhood commercial zone. At one time, a public laundromat was allowed in neighborhood commercial. In 2012, however, the zoning code was changed, making it necessary to have a conditional use permit to operate a laundr0mat in that zone.

Snodgrass is adding new machines and working with contractors to improve the condition of the building, according to a statement he wrote to the Planning Department.

Commissioners are to meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers of City Hall, 301 W. Chestnut St. Entrance to the building is on the northeast side.

Other agenda items include:

• A request for a conditional use permit from Emilio Gramendia for E&J Auto Repair and sales at 702 N. Second St. in a highway commercial zone.

• A request from Crafton Tull to rezone replatted lots 159-161 in Shadow Valley, Phase 7, from agricultural to residential single-family, five units per acre.

• A request for a temporary concession trailer permit from Cole Mitchel to operate Super Chill at 2223 W. Walnut St. in a highway commercial/condominium zone.
