Saferite Leaving Ramay Junior High School In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE -- Matt Saferite has resigned as the principal of Ramay Junior High School to accept a position in the Bentonville School District.

Saferite, 42, will become the district professional development coordinator. His resignation is effective immediately.

Superintendent Paul Hewitt announced Saferite's departure to the district staff Wednesday.

He has been recognized as Principal of the Year by the Arkansas Association of Secondary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals for his leadership at Ramay. He has been the Ramay principal since 2006.

He was an assistant principal at Ramay before becoming director of technology programs and management information systems for the district, a post he held for a year. He was the assistant principal at Rogers High School for five years before becoming principal at Ramay.

"It is always difficult when good people leave, but this new position will allow Dr. Saferite the opportunity to face new challenges and utilize his knowledge and skills in a different way," Hewitt said. "I have known Matt for several years and invited him to speak to my classes when I was at the university. I will personally miss him but wish him all the best in his new position."

The position is posted and Kim Garrett, associate superintendent for secondary education, has started putting together an interview team.

Hewitt expects the position to be filled very soon.
