Homegrown 1: Hope offers its annual respite from the August heat at the Hope Watermelon Festival, Aug. 7-9, with most activities on Aug. 9. Homegrown 2: Arkansas honors one of its favorite sons in lavish style with the Johnny Cash Music Festival, 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Arkansas State University Convocation Center, 217 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro. This year's lineup includes Reba McEntire, Bobby Bare and Loretta Lynn. Tickets are $40-$200 plus service fees and at press time, the concert was nearly sold out. The weekend will also include the opening of the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 with tours 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in Dyess. Tickets for home tours are $10 and must be purchased in advance.
