Ex-hopeful agrees to $150 ethics fine

An unsuccessful state House candidate, Paul Caldwell, a Lowell Republican, has agreed to pay a $150 fine to the state Ethics Commission and receive a public letter of caution in a settlement of an ethics complaint.

Caldwell agreed with the commission that he violated state laws by failing to file a personal financial disclosure report for 2013 on time, and for failing to disclose certain information on a campaign finance report, regarding mailers that were marked as paid for by Caldwell, commission Director Graham Sloan said in a settlement offer signed by Caldwell on Saturday.

In a three-candidate primary on May 20 in House District 90, Caldwell lost to Jana Della Rosa of Rogers for the Republican nomination.
