Boy, 17, charged as adult in killing

STUTTGART -- A 17-year-old Stuttgart boy has been charged as an adult with capital murder in the July 22 shooting death of 20-year-old Daniel Ruffin, also of Stuttgart.

According to authorities, Arthur L. Hicks Jr. was held Wednesday without bail at the Arkansas County jail.

Ruffin was shot at about 5 p.m. July 22 outside his home on South Maple Street while walking his dog, police said. Authorities have released few details about the killing.

No other arrests have been made in the case, which is being investigated by the Stuttgart Police Department and the Arkansas State Police.
