FAYETTEVILLE -- The Walton Arts Center's second-in-command has found a new job.

Terri Trotter, chief operating officer, will be the executive director and CEO of the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum, Idaho. Trotter was hired in 1998 as vice president of communications for the Walton Arts Center. She also served as vice president for external affairs before being promoted to chief operating officer about six years ago.

Her final day with the arts center will be Aug. 22.

"I could not be more appreciative of and grateful for my nearly 16 years at Walton Arts Center, and I will truly miss the WAC team, our patrons and Northwest Arkansas," Trotter said. "I have had a tremendous opportunity to grow, develop and have an impact on our community in the positions I have held.

"That experience, and the many relationships I have built through the years, will be invaluable to me as I work to grow and develop my new organization."

Trotter described Sun Valley as a "boutique community" famous for its ski resort and attracts visitors from across the Pacific Northwest.

She said she's excited to lead an organization that, like the Walton Arts Center, has embarked on a fundraising campaign and is planning for a new facility. Trotter's daughter is about to begin high school, and she said it was the right time to move for her family as well.

"It's a good fit with where I am and with my experience," Trotter said.

Peter Lane, arts center CEO, said Tuesday he was sad to see Trotter go, but excited about the opportunity for her and her family.

"On behalf of the Walton Arts (Center) board and the entire Walton Arts Center team, I want to thank Terri for her passion, leadership and service to the organization," Lane said. "She has been a true advocate for the arts."

Erin Rogers, public relations manager, wasn't able to provide details Tuesday afternoon about the arts center's plans for Trotter's position. Lane was out of the office and unavailable for comment.

According to Internal Revenue Service filings on Guidestar.org, a website that provides information about nonprofit organizations, Trotter's last reported salary was $120,399 in 2011.
