Bond denied for Bentonville man accused of killing grandmother

BENTONVILLE — A Bentonville man will be held without bond in the Benton County Jail in connection with the death of his grandmother.

Michael Eugene Conklin, 26, was arrested Friday in Saline County. He was booked at 11:54 a.m. Saturday into the county jail. He was arrested in connection with capital murder and theft of property.

Conklin's grandmother, Nelma Darline Conklin, 76, was found Sunday dead at her home at 3300 S.W. Elm Manor Ave. in Bentonville. Preliminary autopsy results indicated that her death was a homicide, according to the news release.

Michael Conklin lived with his grandmother and police began searching for him after his grandmother's body was discovered. His grandmother's silver 2013 Ford Focus was also missing.

Michael Conklin's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Sept. 2 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
