Bella Vista To Vote On Fire Truck

Monday, July 28, 2014

BELLA VISTA -- The City Council will vote on buying a new fire truck at today's meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. at Highlands Crossing Center.

Aldermen will consider the purchase of the custom pumper truck from KME Manufacturing of Rogersville, Mo., for just more than $392,000, which includes an $80,000 down payment.

The down payment is included in the city's 2014 budget, Chief Steve Sims told the group at a work session July 21. The method of payment for the remaining cost would be decided by the council after the purchase.

The truck would replace a 1986 GMC Class A pumper on which the engine failed earlier this year.

Aldermen also will discuss in their first readings ordinances for the adoption of the 2012 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code; granting franchise fees to Leisure Hills Water and Old Bella Vista Property Owners Association; establishing a drug-free workplace in accordance with the policy set by the Arkansas Municipal League; accepting rights of way dedication to further the Bella Vista Lutheran Church's expansion project; and adopting zoning code amendments regarding notification related to city-initiated zoning changes.

The group also will discuss a resolution supporting amendments to state law requiring homeless registered sex offenders to check in with law enforcement agencies every 30 days, and a resolution that would eliminate fees for sign permits for nonprofit organizations.
