Novice golfers

forming group

The Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association is developing a novice golf group where new golfers can learn and feel comfortable among other beginners.

Each year, the Property Owners Association's Golf Division offers four-week instructional seminars for beginning adult golfers from April through September. During the seminars, golf professionals teach basic golf instruction, etiquette and rules to beginners.

The association is looking to develop a new program to follow the Beginners Golf Seminar. The Bella Vista Novice Golfers Group will be a welcoming, relaxed and stress-free environment where beginning golfers can play and learn with others new to the game. Events would include clinics, practice at the Tanyard Creek Driving Range and play on Bella Vista Village's golf courses.

To better meet the needs and desires of members and guests interested in participating in the Novice Golfers Group, the association's staff invites participants to participate in a brief online survey about the program.

Salvation Army

leads food effort

The Salvation Army of Northwest Arkansas is partnering with the Washington County Sheriff's Office for several food drives across the area.

Beginning Friday, the Sheriff's Office will be manning posts at Harps Grocery Stores in West Fork, at Mission and Crossover in Fayetteville and the store at Har-ber Meadows in Springdale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On Saturday, deputies will be at the stores from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

These food drives are critical to help keep shelves from going bare at the Area Command. As the food pantry hits a summer slowdown the Army doesn't have the money to go out and buy new food.

In addition to donating at these locations you can also drop off items at the Area Command at 219 W. 15th St. in Fayetteville. Both perishable and non-perishable food items are accepted.
